Leading Spring Champion Stakes contender Rhyno Chaser is in danger of missing Saturday's Group One race with a hoof problem.

Trainer Kevin Moses has advised Racing NSW stewards a nail had protruded into the sole of Rhyno Chaser's near-fore hoof following his win in the last Saturday's Dulcify Handicap.

Moses said the colt had not missed any work but he will be inspected by Racing NSW chief veterinarian Dr Craig Suann later today and again tomorrow.

The David Payne-trained Naval Escort has already been scratched from the race with a viral infection.

Formerly the equal favourite for the Spring Champion, Rhyno Chaser has eased to $3.60 leaving Predatory Pricer at the top of the market at $3.20 with TAB Sportsbet.
